Polymer Identification using Mid Infrared Spectroscopy

چکیده
Synthetic polymers are very widely used today, with diverse applications in various industries such as food, automotive, and packaging. The quality of plastic products depends on the quality of the polymers or polymer blends used during manufacturing, so identity verification and quality testing of those materials during every stage of manufacturing is necessary to ensure that only high-quality material is used.

Use of mid- and near-infrared spectroscopy to track degradation of bio-based eating utensils during composting.
Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) and mid-infrared spectroscopy (MIRS) have been used for quantitative and/or qualitative analysis of a wide range of materials. The objective of this study was to investigate the potential of MIRS and NIRS for following the degradation of bio-based food utensils during composting. Polylactide (PLA)-based forks lost 34% of their initial mass and were reduced to s...
متن کاملMid - infrared and optical spectroscopy of ultraluminous infrared galaxies : A comparison
New tools from Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) mid-infrared spectroscopy have recently become available to determine the power sources of dust-obscured ultraluminous infrared galaxies (ULIRGs). We compare ISO classifications – starburst or active galactic nucleus (AGN) – with classifications from optical spectroscopy, and with optical/near-infrared searches for hidden broad-line regions. The a...
متن کاملNanometer-scale infrared spectroscopy of heterogeneous polymer nanostructures fabricated by tip-based nanofabrication.
There is a significant need for chemical identification and chemical imaging of nanofabricated structures and devices, especially for multiple materials integrated at the nanometer scale. Here we present nanofabrication, chemical identification, and nanometer-scale chemical imaging of polymer nanostructures with better than 100 nm spatial resolution. Polymer nanostructures of polyethylene, poly...
متن کاملComparison of visible-near infrared and mid-infrared spectroscopy for classification of Huanglongbing and Citrus Canker infected leaves
In this study, visible-near infrared spectroscopy and mid-infrared spectroscopy were compared to evaluate their applicability in classifying citrus leaves infected with canker and Huanglongbing (HLB) from healthy citrus leaves. The visible-near infrared spectra in the range 350-2,500 nm and mid-infrared spectra in the range of 5.15-10.72 μm were collected from healthy and diseased (canker, HLB)...
